HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME

Summer is in full effect! Since we do not have a pool at home, we are trying to find places to get wet and stay cool. You would think spending my anniversary in San Diego would be the highlight of my weekend but getting to drive the 2018 Mazda CX-9 was definitely the highpoint. Being married over a decade can make for a strong couple; however, the functioning of the CX-9 is solid competition. The SKYACTIV-G 2.5T Turbo Engine with G-Vectoring control was built just like a long-lasting marriage should be – efficient with impressive performance.

Between the long drive to get there and the multiple trips to the beach, I was happy for the 20 city/26 highway mpg, and I felt extremely safe with my entire family in the car. The blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and lane departure warning and lane keep assist kept me safely in my lane driving through intense California traffic. My favorite feature was the Mazda radar cruise control – even while utilizing cruise control, the CX-9 was able to adjust my speed to keep me a safe distance from the car ahead of me.

The Mazda not only kept us safe but comfortable during our many trips to the beach. The third row gave the boys plenty of space and the 3-zone automatic climate control allowed everyone to feel comfortable. The sunshades on both the rear seat windows were an added plus while both boys napped after visiting our wedding spot. They were possibly napping the entire time. The power moonroof also made for a great view out to the sunset cliffs while the car was parked.

We did get to enjoy an evening out, kid free, to celebrate our anniversary with a fancy dinner at Duke’s in La Jolla. Thankfully, we had the equally fancy Mazda. We easily fit in with 20-inch alloy wheels, aluminum roof rails, LED headlights with auto on/off, rear roof spoiler and the LED lighting signature grille. We sure were fancy with our flip-flops, t-shirts and jeans. At least the Snowflake White Pearl exterior and leather wrapped upholstery made up for our appearance.

Since we were celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary and steel which represents strength is the traditional gift, it was a perfect present for the weekend to drive this $48,060 Mazda CX-9. The most important feature of our 11-year marriage is the family we have created with our two sons and sweet dog. The 2018 Mazda CX-9, with its Pearl exterior, sounds like a perfect gift for our 12th anniversary too since the traditional gift is pearls.
