SAFE DRIVE TO THE PARTY

Turning seven is kind of a big deal! Obviously, you celebrate this huge milestone by inviting twenty of your closest friends to Peter Piper Pizza for a chaotic, loud, messy birthday party. At least I got to test drive the 2018 Lexus GS 350 F Sport to calm my mind, get everything ready for the celebration and feel a bit of luxury and convenience that may not have been offered at my son’s big gathering.

There is a lot to planning a birthday party for a child – who do we invite, where do we do it, which package do we buy – it is very stressful. Thankfully, sitting behind the leather-wrapped heated steering wheel in the 10-way adjustable power heated and ventilated front seat of the GS 350 F Sport made all my worries go away. The Lexus Enform Safety Connect also made the ride stress free. If I were in an accident or if something unexpected occurred (like I left the cake on the roof of the car and drove away), assistance can be sent to the vehicle’s GPS location.

The safety of the GS 350 also kept my mind at ease. Driving multiple children to the birthday party, I felt confident with the 10 airbags, backup monitor, blind spot monitor and the Lexus Safety System which includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection which was crucial when pulling up to the crowded parking lot at Peter Piper Pizza.

Getting party favors, picking up the cake and grabbing a last-minute present for my 7-year-old birthday boy had to be done quickly, so I was very lucky to have the F Sport. With the 3.8 liter V8 with direct injection and port engine, I got 311 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. This got me from place to place effortlessly and to the party with plenty of time to set up and take a deep breath. I could even use the sport modes while getting an average of 19 city mpg and 27 highway mpg.

Luxury may not have been the first word to come to mind while sitting at Peter Piper Pizza, which is why I may have snuck out in the middle of the party to take just a minute in the Lexus. I turned up the SIRIUS XM radio while I rested quickly in the 16-way F Sport driver’s seat. I used the auto-dimming inside and even looked through the power tilt/slide moonroof with one-touch open/close imagining I was enjoying the skies from the Caribbean.

I told my son this was his last birthday party! In the future, I will take only a few friends on a birthday extravaganza. I can save up all my money over the next ten years and possibly gift him the 2018 Lexus GS 350 F sport for the price of $57,460. His response, “That would be a lot of pizzas and tokens!”
