NO FEAR – “Let’s Go Places”
2020 Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road

I never thought I would have to stay 6 feet away from my family and friends for weeks at a time. I never thought I’d be facetiming to see a newborn, or Zooming a business meeting or birthday party happening just one mile from my home. There are many changes we are facing as we enter what is being termed by some “The New Normal”. This is far from the first time we have had to reinvent how we all live.
I remember the stories my parents would tell me about the great depression during my upbringing. My upper middle-class family washed out plastic bags, reused aluminum foil and ironed tissue paper. My parents made sure I shut the lights off from room to room, never wasted water, and learned to sew, garden, and pump gas myself. We reused and recycled before it was cool. I remember chuckling often when at their home as an adult I would still see grocery store plastic bags hanging over the faucet to dry and reuse.
I tried to iron tissue paper once and realized it was easier and less expensive to buy more at the store than start a fire at my house. When the pandemic truly hit the US this spring and toilet paper became scarce, I thought back to the stories my parents told me. I knew we too, in 2020, would survive and come back stronger and kinder like they did in the 1930’s.
It was the suggestion of famous author and speaker Sharon Lechter, along with the equally talented Lisa Copeland that encouraged entrepreneurs like myself to read “Outwitting the Devil” by Napoleon Hill. It was amazing to read a book written in 1938 that was locked away for seventy-two years… finally annotated by Sharon. It proves that history does repeat itself, for as I read this book I felt it was written in January 2020.
What does this have to do with a 2020 Toyota RAV4? Why include this in my review? Because all of what has happened from China to New York, Japan, and beyond affects the automotive industry, the industry I’ve dedicated the last 25 years to. Automotive may never be the same, but I choose to reinvent the future, not fear it. People will still need cars to travel, they will need car repairs, as we prosper again they will want the newest and greatest, maybe electric, hybrid, hydrogen and even autonomous. Auto dealerships have not gone away, but they will continue to seek new ways of distribution, marketing, and customer focus. I actually have some pretty good ideas for their reinvention.
Toyota, as well as other manufacturers, is offering exceptional incentives, low interest rates, delayed payments and door to door service, including repairs. Here are my favorite features on the 2020 RAV4 so don’t be afraid to take it off road to clear your head or read a good book in the great outdoors. Have no fear.
My favorite Napoleon Hill quote reads: “ Victory is always possible for the person who refuses to stop fighting.”
